Are You Using the Right Amount of Candle Wax for the Right sized candle?

The amount of wax you use in your candles determines so much about the quality of your finished product. From how many hours it will burn, to how big a flame it will produce and how much fragrance it will emit.

But there are two things that most people don't think about when they are making candles:

The size of the candle and how much wax is needed to fill it?

If you are making votive candles, then this information is not as important because they are small and generally burn for only a few hours at a time. However, if you're making larger candles like pillar or taper candles (which can burn for days), then it's essential that you use enough wax to completely fill the entire container so that there are no voids inside and no air pockets around the wick which can cause smoking when burning and reduce their life span considerably!

So How Much Wax Do I Need?

There is no hard and fast rule on exactly how much wax should be used in each container but as a general guideline, I recommend using about 1/4" thick layer of wax for votives and 1/2
